The BCCP- Brooklyn College Community Partnership

Role: Facilitator, Teacher and Program leader.

2015- Created the program for the Maker Space for middle school at the Brooklyn College location.

2016- Created the program for the Maker Space for high school at the Bushwick High location.

The BCCP (thebccp.org) is an after school program for kids from a low income background to come and learn in a non traditional format.

It's a safe space for kids to come and create. They  can choose to go to teachers from different disciplines from art to music to spoken word to come to me at the Maker Space.

The students created the Maker Space from scratch. They painted the walls, said what they wanted to learn, and I'm particularly proud of them for building our own CNC, and then making beautiful work using it. We would experiment, collaborate with different classes and go on field trips.

At the Maker Space the students go through all steps of creation- sketching > designing > choosing the right tools and fabricating.

Technology available and taught at the Maker Space:

3D printing / CNC / Vynal cutting / Photography / Video editing / Adobe Suit / TinkerCad / AutoDesk 123D
